How to Write Dialogue

After our last writing sample, I notice the attempts to include speech. We looked at how it would look if it was being spoken aloud.

So we drew 2 people talking and added the conversation that would happen at home. Then we looked at how it would look in a story.

We need to remember that speaking does happen in a vacuum. In other words the people are doing something, cooking dinner, playing on the PlayStation....

Each person who speaks what they say starts on a new line.

If only two people are speaking that the third or consecutive lines do not need the tag line 'said Mum.' only the first two need it.

Pyjamas for Winter

Thank you for thinking of us this winter. It is wonderful to go to bed and be warm. It makes it easier to get to sleep so I am ready for learning the next day. Kootuitui and Middlemore Foundation you are awesome!

Mufti For Westpac

Many children wore mufti to help support Westpac Rescue Helicopter, a few attempted to dress following the Aviation Theme. Tui Whanau had a hostess, an astronaut, airforce officer and a few in bomber style jackets.

Winter Sports Day

Kingston - Scoring a goal I kick it between the goalies legs I thought he was going to stop it.
Chad - I thought the rain wasn't going to stop but it did and we had a lot of fun.

Marlie - What a great day, playing other school, when can we do it again? We were meant to play last Wednesday but it was pouring from Tuesday so it was postponed, we wondered if it was going to go ahead. Iwas so happy when it did. As always Mrs Mundy took heaps of Photos. Unfortunately she didn't get any of the Soccer.

Mechanical Hands

As part of our Coding Inquiry we thought we would look at the mechanical hand and how it worked.

We talked about how the string is like our tendons and when they are pulled our fingers move.

Our teacher watched this video for our inspiration.
