Cross Country Fun Run

We were supposed to run our Cross Country last term. However, with all the issues in Auckland, it was postponed until yesterday. We had been training and we ran and ran until we were tuckered out.

As you can see we could dress up in our house colours. It was the Year 4's first year running out on the road and we hadn't had a chance to practise and they got confused and ended up running around the field, so they didn't run past Mrs Mundy.

We had doughnuts and a slushy as a treat for lunch is we had run and listened to the teachers. What a yummy reward!

Parents even received a surprise as they were a lot of seedlings that were available for them to take home. Thank you ICL.

Redhill School Cross Country 2019 - Our Stories

After running Cross country...

we wrote a short story about our day here our some excerpts.

The year four boys were next, I was nervous because it like butterflies were flying around in my stomach. When I started running my tummy started to feel worse.  Then it stopped while I ran.  - Lotoa Y4

"Grr!" My tummy rumbled so loud that my  friend could hear it next to me. I started to get nervous like I had to say a speech in front of the whole school.
Suddenly Mrs Mundy asked for the Year 6 Girls. I walked to the starting line, I wasn't going to run hard out to start because I might waste my energy.
At the starting line was a lot of girls, but I really didn't care. I was worried just about me. Ms Castle finally counted 3, 2, 1 BANG the two blocks smacked together. - Janaya Year 6

When it was my turn to run I was afraid to run the race.
Ms Kereopa said "Go!"
I ran as fast as I could until Elijah almost pushed me onto the road. I slowed down and ended up fourth. - Joshua Year 5

At the beginning of the race I had butterflies. At the end I came last it made me embarrassed. I felt like I never want to run again . I hate running I just have too. But after all I am not the only one who came last. - R Year 5

When the juniors students started racing I was so confident in the little kids. It was getting closer to my turn I was getting butterflies in my stomach. - Te Horakau  Year 5

Redhill School Cross Country 2019

We had a great day dressing up. Some people from Tui Wātea dressed in red just because it was there (We did not make them!) Pohutukawa received extra house points for their dressing up on the day.

The M&M's nearly melted with the warmer weather.

Fun Run - Cross Country Day

After gathering on the field in our houses the races started with the Year 7 and 8. Girls first then the boys, all the races follow this pattern. This meant the Year 7 and 8s could be back to help the younger whanau with their races.

The little ones (Year 1 to 3) ran around the field and over the obstacle course. They were lucky they didn't have to leave the school grounds.

While they we running inside the Year 4s to 6s continued with their half lap of the block before running around the field and over the obstacles.
